What is an easy way to remove sod?

You can rent a sod cutter. They are fairly easy to use. I, a woman, used one to remove about 120 sq. ft. of sod. The rental place will tell you how it works too. Then when you are done you cut the length into shorter strips, with a sharp knife and roll them up. Then to get rid of them place a sign saying free sod. You will be amazed how fast it will disappear. I recommend this be done in the spring.
